Fishing
Fishing is great on all area lakes. If it’s solitude you’re after, you’ll find it here. Bay Lake, Clearwater, Nokay and Serpent provide great fishing on larger but uncrowded water. For those of you that like the smaller lakes, check out Rabbit (West and East), Reno, Lookout, Crooked, Portage, Crocker, Wolf, Blackhoof and Mahnomen. Check with local bait shops for more information.
Trout fishing - The famous Crosby-Ironton mine lakes teem with rainbow trout and can be readily caught throughout the regular fishing season through October 31. Monster northern pike also ply these waters!
River Fishing - The Mississippi is full of walleyes and smallmouth and our section in being stocked this year with muskelunge. The nearby Pine River provides on of the finest combination trips of canoeing, kayaking coupled with some excellent fishing.
